A report stating that Brandon Magee, a freshman Arizona State linebacker, is about to sign a pro baseball contract is evidently inaccurate.
An ASU spokesman said that Magee is on campus and expected to participate in the team’s first fall practice on Monday night.
Magee, a 6-foot, 230-pounder who is one of three players in the 2008 recruiting class from Centennial High in Corona, Calif., was a 29th-round selection of the Tampa Bay Rays in the June draft as an outfielder.
Also, he has been listed as “Brandon” in every ASU publication since signing day, so that is the spelling I will use until told otherwise.
